Texas Executive Order GA-29
By order of Governor Greg Abbott and under the guidance of the Texas Division of Emergency Management, Texans are directed to wear face coverings over their mouths and noses whenever they’re in spaces that are open to the public. The only exception to this rule would be when there’s ample distance between individuals who don’t live in the same household. This measure is designed to mitigate COVID-19 contagion.
Section 411.172 of the Texas Government Code
The laws and regulations governing the eligibility and issuance of licenses to carry handguns are silent on the issue of wearing masks. The right to bear arms isn’t directly related to wearing a surgical mask, a respirator graded N95, or a clear face shield. As long as the face covering you’re wearing complies with the aforementioned executive order, you can legally carry a handgun.
